Welcome to Callington Methodist Church & Circuit
The foundation of all the work in this Church is grounded in the belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour and that all people need to come to a personal faith in Him and experience the reality of His presence in their lives. Outreach is our priority.

We offer you a warm welcome, whether this is your first experience of a Christian church or you have been a member of a church
for many years.
And if, like most people, you have questions and doubts, you will find here that we are all on a journey of faith.
Though we all experience joy and sadness, the church is a worshipping community in which we can share our successes and concerns and
offer support to one another. Churches in the Circuit are at St. Dominick, Stoke Climsland and Albaston, this church is also known
as Tamar Valley Methodist Church. The buildings at Callington date back to 1845 and the years have seen many changes, particularly
to the chapel itself. Our ancillary premises are well used both by church groups and outside organisations.
Rev Martyn Smith
a role that he had until retirement, thirty years later! Martyn trained to be a teacher at St. Luke's College, Exeter, where he helped
to lead a flourishing Christian Union. His first job was at a North Devon boarding school for boys with emotional and behavioural
problems. He spent twenty years there as a full time teacher with responsibility for several sports. Having felt God's call to offer
himself, initially as a Local Preacher and subsequently for ministerial training with the Methodist Church, Martyn had his first appointment
in 1997 as the assistant minister in the Saltash Circuit. Following a ten year stay there, he joined the Callington & Gunnislake
Circuit as Superintendent Minister, with pastoral responsibility for four congregations.
Although born in Surrey, 2 year old Martyn moved to North Staffordshire where his father was taking up an appointment as an Anglican Rector,
